Congratulations to Joy Pillay (10F1). Joy was chosen to read a recent poem she penned, at the Auckland Museum on ANZAC Day. There were 80 entries across 3 categories for this ANZAC Competition, with one winner in the Under 12 category, three winners in the 12-19 years category, and three winners in the 20+ category.
Joy is an incredibly talented speaker and she delivered her powerful poem with such poise at this public event. Well done Joy.
Today we remember those who served in the New Zealand Defence Force and we pause to reflect on their dedication to Aotearoa. As part of this remembrance, our Executive Council attended the Howick ANZAC Parade this morning.

Today was our Kaitiakitanga Community Day. This day was developed to share the mahi of caring for our 20,000 native species that were planted last year. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event.

Year 7 students from Mountains Whānau (7M2) took part in the New Zealand Stats Census Competition and won a prize – a $100 stationery voucher as part of the 2023 Census Teacher’s Toolkit competition. Great work 7M2!
A message from the Secretary of the Howick Lions Club – which has been serving the Howick community for 61 years.
During the COVID era, the Howick Lions Club was unfortunately unable to offer the community the annual Water Safety Picnic due to health and safety considerations – BUT this year it will be back bigger and better than before.
Previous partnerships have been reignited and new ones forged with the Cockle Bay Ratepayers Association who will be supporting this new venture. Details about the event are below:

This week, Mountains and Coast Whānau have been out at Camp Adair on Year 7 Camp. Here, students from Mountains Whānau are completing the river safety tubing activity. What fun!
