An email has been sent home regarding the ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง taking place on ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐.
Following a breakdown in the bargaining process between the PPTA and Ministry of Education, PPTA Te Wehengarua members covered by the Secondary Teachersโ Collective Agreement (โSTCAโ) have voted to take strike action.
The school does not have sufficient staff to safely remain open for instruction on that day. Therefore, teachers who are not PPTA members will supervise students on site who cannot be supervised at home. If your child/ren cannot be supervised at home on Wednesday 20th August, please email the Whฤnau Assistant, as below, by Monday 18th August, 2025.
If this request is not received, it is understood that the parent/caregiver will take responsibility for the supervision of their child/ren.

On those dates, PPTA members will not teach, instruct or supervise students in certain year levels but will continue to teach all other students on those days.

Our annual conference took place earlier this week with students attending from Ormiston Junior College, Rototuna Junior High School, Sancta Maria College, Albany Junior High School, and of course MHJC.
This conference is always a highlight for the young, aspiring leaders from all five schools. We wish to thank those schools who attended and the staff that supported this conference.
MHJC’s math student extraordinaire, Japnaam, was live on TVNZ’s ‘Breakfast ‘this morning.
She also recently placed first in the finals of the SIP Abacus ANZ Prodigy Competition, where 250+ children competed across Australia and New Zealand. She was presented the award by Hon David Seymour, Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand. She will be travelling to India to represent New Zealand later this year in the International Prodigy Competition.

It has been a fantastic day in the capital for Ms Martin’s ‘governance’ field trip with Year 9 Ngahere students! Students observed parliament in session and attended question time with the Prime Minister on a range of issues before having a guided tour of Te Papa. โ๏ธ

๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฑ This programme continues to flourish at MHJC!
During Week 2, 20 students travelled to Kawakawa Bay to help in a planting initiative on private land. Our Trees for Survival group grew 800 native seedlings to start the native planting on this property. The group had a stunning day weather wise, and successfully planted many native Mฤnuka, Tฤซ Kลuka, Karamลซ, Harakeke, and Kฤnuka.
