Takutai Whānau has had an incredible 3 days away at Camp Adair. Students participated in river kayaking, group challenges, the famous water slide, and even had their own disco! An amazing week, made even more incredible by the fabulous Year 10 Camp leaders and staff. We look forward to this group arriving back at school this afternoon.
This week Takutai and Ngahere Whānau had their Year 7 Camps out at Camp Adair. Students took part in engaging outdoor education activities and bonded with their Year 7 peers, Year 10 leaders, and teachers. We look forward to these two camps arriving back to MHJC later today. These photos are from Ngahere’s days at Camp Adair.
A notice for our community – Mr Morrison will be away on a Ministry funded sabbatical from this week until the end of term. Mr Naidoo will be Acting Principal in his place.
Last week, our Year 10 Camp Leaders had a day to grow their leadership skills in preparation for the upcoming Year 7 Camps. Students spent the morning on-site focussing on leadership challenges. They then travelled to Adrenalin Forest to step outside of their comfort zone and work on motivating their peers. Our leaders are now ready and excited to help with the upcoming Camps at Camp Adair.
This week Takutai and Ngāhere Whānau travelled to the Goat Island Marine Reserve north of Auckland to help students experience their learning in ‘real-world’ situations.
Here, Year 8 students from Ngāhere had their term’s learning come to life with a snorkelling day in the mesmerising waters off Goat Island. Students and staff had a fabulous day out!
This Friday is a non uniform day fundraising for Blind Low Vision NZ for the Guide Dog appeal. Students can wear black, white and orange and need to bring a gold coin donation if they are wearing non uniform.
Please see the below notice about our upcoming NCEA night for ākonga and whānau. This will take place at MHJC on Wednesday 5th March from 6pm-7pm in the Theatre.
To start off Term 1 and create lasting relationships, a number of Whānau have spent ‘Splash Days’ at the Panmure Lagoon Pools. Here, students have been able to practice their swimming skills, participate in manu competitions, and get to know their peers and teachers in a different environment. We hope students and staff in Wai, Ngahere, and Maunga Whānau enjoyed their days out.
Takutai Whānau is off to Omaha Beach today for their day out.
